StoneCrop Community Gardens Welcomes You

Growing gardeners in the Santiam Canyon

At StoneCrop Community Gardens we're providing garden and food opportunities for local residents, especially youth, families and seniors. Garden spaces are available with water and guidance. Classes and small group educational sessions are scheduled year-round, with free resouces, and sometimes free seeds.
Classes cover growing, harvesting and preserving garden produce. Classes are facilitated by OSU Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers.

Growing Gardeners in the Santiam Canyon

StoneCrop Gardens provides local residents with a place to grow healthy food. We provide guidance and training to plan, maintain, harvest and preserve organic fruits and vegetables. Sustainability and economic use of available resources is important to us.

What We Do

Gardening  activities year-round

Providing garden space, support and learning opportunities in the Santiam Canyon.

Growing spaces available

An easily accessible site is being developed with a 20'x40' hoophouse, raised beds of different sizes, a greenhouse, and tool storage. A garden manager lives next door to monitor visitors. Educational programs are offered on site. Gardeners are required to plant and maintain their assigned beds with regular visits during the growing seasons. Applications available for low- or no-cost raised beds for families and seniors.

Learning opportunities

As Master Gardeners with Oregon State University we want to share the knowledge with local folks wanting to grow their own healthy fruits and vegetables. As Master Food Preservers we want to assist gardeners and others in storing and using their foods in safe and creative ways. Classes, our blog, online communications, free information and hands-on experiences are on-going throughout the year.

Community Garden

Roadside food sales and donations

We grow more than we can use or preserve for ourselves, so how can we share with non-gardeners? During the harvest season we plan to have a sales site on Hwy 226 in Lyons, with income
used to pay for garden and canning supplies. Extra produce goes to local food banks.
